It’s time to celebrate if you’re a fan of the Netflix K-drama TV series Squid Game because the giant streaming service recently announced that it will return for season two.

KAMPALA | NOW THEN DIGITAL  — Fans of the Netflix K-drama series ‘Squid Game’ should rejoice, as the giant streaming service and production company has just confirmed the show will return for season two.

  • Netflix confirms the return of its Korean TV show Squid Game for season two, a welcome development for fans of the show.
  • The Netflix announcement was made on its social media channels, which sparked global excitement. The writer-director first discussed the possibility of moving forward with the project.
  • But it wasn’t clear if that would work because most K-drama series end after one season. Thankfully, the record-breaking TV series was well received by fans, and Netflix made a decision to officially bring Squid Game back for Season 2.

Squid Game will return to Netflix

Netflix announced the ‘Squid Game’ season 2 through its official social channels, which excited fans around the world.

At first, writer-director Hwang Dong-hyuk mentioned the series advancing to the next level.

The director wasn’t sure if it would work because most K-dramas conclude after a single year.

The record-breaking TV show was a hit with fans, and Netflix was motivated to officially greenlight Squid Game for Season 2.

“It took 12 years to bring the first season of ‘Squid Game’ to life last year. But it took 12 days for ‘Squid Game’ to become the most popular Netflix series ever,” Dong-Hyuk writes.

“As the writer, director, and producer of ‘Squid Game,’ a huge shout out to fans around the world. Thank you for watching and loving our show… Join us once more for a whole new round,” Dong-Hyuk said.

According to US Magazine, the Korean drama series won three Screen Actors Guild Awards at the 2022 ceremony, which meant it won in almost every category in which it was nominated.

As soon as the series was officially launched, it quickly became a popular show. The first episode was released on Netflix on 17 September 2021.

What is Squid Game?

The Squid Game is a deadly game in which its players are willing to die for the prize in order to live a debt-free life. It is a combination of traditional child games in which players have to win, otherwise, they lose.

In the end, the game is won by an unlikely winner, a guy named Gi-Yun, who is devastated when he learns who actually owns it.

Gi-Yun makes an effort to return to the game during the season’s end. He is finally seen boarding a plane as the season ends.

The Netflix original series “The Squid Game” is coming back for Season 2. Are you ready for it?
