Kampala, Uganda | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Nigerian Afrobeats stars Davido and Tems have received new certifications in Canada, according to Music Canada, which tracks popular music in the country. Davido’s track ‘Unavailable’ from his fourth studio album ‘Timeless’ achieved gold certification, selling over 40,000 units in Canada. His 2017 hit ‘Fall’ also earned platinum certification for selling over 80,000 units. Meanwhile, Tems, known for her feature on Wizkid’s ‘Essence,’ received gold certification for her songs ‘Found,’ ‘Damages,’ ‘Free Mind,’ and ‘Higher,’ making her the most certified Nigerian female artist in Canada. Both artists are signed with Sony Music and are prominent figures in African pop music.

In a recent interview, Davido discussed his continued passion for music as the driving force behind his career. He emphasized that the desire to create dynamic music and the constant learning process from younger producers keep him engaged in the music industry.

Tems, a Grammy and BET Award winner, also highlighted the importance of remembering one’s initial motivations as an artist, emphasizing that beyond seeking fame, it’s the desire to share stories and messages that drives her artistic journey.
