Kampala, Uganda | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Stand-up comedian Agnes Akite Opio, widely known as Agnes Akite, experienced a harrowing incident recently. Returning home late at night from a Quiz Night Session at Logg In in Najjera, she fell victim to a brutal attack by unknown assailants near her home’s gate. The attack left her with head injuries, and the perpetrators made off with her phones and other belongings.
The incident occurred last Friday, resulting in Akite being hospitalized. She has since been discharged and is now recuperating at home. A statement shared on Facebook urged well-wishers to keep her in their prayers.
Akite Agnes, recognized for her comedy work spanning over eight years, gained prominence as Arach in the popular NTV series “The Hostel” before transitioning to stand-up comedy in 2014. She established herself further during the Effends comedy night events at Centenary Park and Theatre Labonita.
