Ugandan Parliament Speaker Confirms Yusuf Nsibambi as FDC Whip in Parliament

Kampala, Uganda | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Ms. Anita Among, the Speaker of the Ugandan Parliament, has officially accepted the appointment of Yusuf Nsibambi as the new opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party whip in Parliament. This decision follows the removal of Ibrahim Ssemujju, the former whip, by the FDC’s Secretary General, Nathan Nandala Mafabi.

The announcement was made during a plenary sitting where Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa read a letter from Speaker Among, confirming the change in FDC leadership. Her letter stated, “The Secretary General has vide his letter on October 7, 2023 written to me communicating, confirming the decision of the FDC delegates’ conference appointing Yusuf Nsibambi as FDC Party Whip in Parliament. In the circumstances therefore, I do accept the designation of Nsibambi as FDC Party Whip.”

Yusuf Nsibambi expressed his commitment to working collaboratively with all members to address issues that have an impact on society.
