Here Are All the Winners of the All Africa Music Awards for 2022/2023

CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Burna Boy was crowned Artist of the Year at the eighth annual All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMAs), and Nigerian duo The Cavemen were named Best African Band, Duo, or Group winners at the AFRIMAs 2022/2023.

  • Burna Boy, the Afro-fusion artist, won the Artist of the Year award for his 2022 LP Love, Damini, as well.
  • At this year’s AFRIMAs, Kassmasse won the category for ‘Best Male Artist in Eastern Africa’, beating out Addis Legesse, Bien (and Aaron Rimbui), and Diamond Platnumz ft. Zuchu, Eddy Kenzo King Saha, Rayvanny ft. Vjollca, among others.
  • In addition, Davido won Best African Collaboration and Best Duo Group in the African Electro categories with ‘Champion Sound’ featuring Focalistic from South Africa.
  • The winners of the All Africa Music Awards 2022/2023 are listed below.

First ever to be hosted in a Francophone African country, the 2022/2023 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMAs) were dubbed the ‘Teranga Edition‘.

This award ceremony is one of the biggest events in the African music industry every year, celebrating the diversity of African music and honoring the contribution of African music to the world as a whole. It is organized by the International Committee of the All Africa Music Awards.

Burna Boy, the Afro-fusion star who won the Artist of the Year award, was also honored with the Album of the Year award for his 2022 album Love, Damini.

Burna Boy’s Love, Damini LP was critically acclaimed by fans and music critics alike, and was praised for its mix of Afro-fusion sounds, as well as its exploration of themes such as love, heartbreak, and personal growth.

Nigerian singer Davido dominated the night’s awards, taking home both Best Male Artist in African Inspirational Music and Best Artist in African Pop.

Additionally, Davido won awards for Best African Collaboration and Best Duo Group in African Electro for his song ‘Champion Sound’ featuring South Africa’s Focalistic.

The song ‘Champion Sound’ by Davido is an upbeat Afrobeats track that celebrates the power of hard work, persistence, and determination. The lyrics are empowering and uplifting, and the song has been well-received by fans in both Nigeria and South Africa.

Among other competitors at this year’s AFRIMAs, Kassmasse took home the prize for ‘Best Male Artist in Eastern Africa’, beating Addis Legesse, Bien (& Aaron Rimbui), Diamond Platnumz ft. Zuchu and Rayvanny ft. Vjollca.
