Jinja, Uganda | NOW THEN DIGITAL — The Busoga Kingdom has urged the police to apprehend individuals involved in circulating alleged fake court documents on social media aiming to hinder the upcoming royal wedding between Kyabazinga William Gabula Nadiope IV and Ms Jovia Mutesi.

Two letters of a supposed court injunction, attributed to UK and Uganda law firms on behalf of UK citizen Ms Alison Anne Nadiope, emerged online. The letters, claiming a civil marriage between Ms Alison and the Kyabazinga in 2016, triggered a response from the Busoga Kingdom, labeling them as defamatory and false.

Prime Minister of Busoga, Dr Joseph Muvawala, stated during a press conference that the kingdom has reported the matter to the police, leading to the arrest of some individuals. He described the content of the letters as defamatory and false, emphasizing that the Kyabazinga has never been married, has no children, and is not a British citizen.

Muvawala instructed kingdom lawyers to pursue legal action against those involved in circulating the documents. The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Dr Stephen Kazimba Mugalu, confirmed receiving the letter but noted that the marriage certificate had not been supplied to him.
