Nigerian artist Burna Boy has achieved another remarkable milestone, hitting 1 billion streams on the African-focused streaming platform Boomplay.

NAIROBI, KENYA | NOW THEN DIGITAL — In a remarkable follow-up to his achievement on Audiomack, Nigerian music sensation Burna Boy has once again left an indelible mark in the music industry by reaching 1 billion streams on Boomplay, an Africa-focused streaming platform.

Boomplay’s Magnitude and Confirmation

Boomplay, a digital service provider with an extensive user base of more than 90 million monthly active users and a vast catalog comprising over 100 million songs, officially verified this milestone on September 5th.

In a significant announcement, Boomplay stated that no other artist had ever attained this milestone before Burna Boy, thereby granting him the prestigious distinction of becoming the inaugural member of Boomplay’s Platinum Club.

From the Golden Club to Platinum Club

Before this remarkable feat, Burna Boy held a prominent position among a select group of African artists in Boomplay’s Golden Club. This exclusive club included notable names like Ghana’s Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Black Sherif, Sarkodie, Nigeria’s Wizkid, Davido, Fireboy DML, alongside Tanzania’s Diamond Platinumz and Rayvanny.

Burna Boy’s latest achievement demonstrates his meteoric rise within Boomplay, as he remarkably accumulated an astounding 800 million streams since February, when Boomplay reported his milestone of 200 million plays.
