Kampala, Uganda | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Global artist Matt B just snagged a GRAMMY nod for Best Global Music Album with ALKEBULAN II.

For Matt, ALKEBULAN II is more than music—it’s a bridge between Africa, his Motherland, and America. Recorded at Abbey Road Studios, this album pulls together the sounds of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, South African poet Nomfundo Khambule, and Matt’s personal journey. The 10 tracks weave orchestral flair with traditional African beats and spoken word, creating a soulful journey that celebrates resilience.

This album builds on ALKEBULAN, his previous Afrobeats hit, which landed on six Billboard charts and introduced his now GRAMMY-nominated track, “Gimme Love” featuring Eddy Kenzo. Like its predecessor, ALKEBULAN II is deeply inspired by cultural heritage and the echoes of ancestral struggle, all while tracing Matt’s own story of growth and perseverance.

With influences from across Africa, this album ups the ante, featuring bold collaborations with Sekou Andrews and Africa’s first Afropop choir, Amazwi8. Recently, his single “NO WAHALA” picked up a Hollywood Music In Media nomination for Best Song in a Short Film, underscoring the project’s impact.
