Soroti, Uganda | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Soroti Chief Magistrate, Margaret Aanyu, passed away, as confirmed by the Judiciary. Aged 54, Magistrate Aanyu suffered a fatal cardiac arrest after a prolonged battle with high blood pressure at Kampala Hospital in Kololo.

The Judiciary released a brief statement announcing her passing: “This to announce the death of HW Aanyu Margaret Chief Magistrate Soroti which has occurred this morning at Kampala hospital. Funeral arrangements to be announced later. May Her Soul Rest in Eternal Peace.”

Justice Henry Peter Adonyo, the resident Judge of Soroti High Court, revealed that he last interacted with Magistrate Aanyu on Thursday, where they exchanged greetings in his chambers. The magistrate, stationed since 2021, seemed in good health during their meeting.

However, her health took a downturn on Thursday evening after a chamber meeting. Despite efforts to seek medical assistance, including transferring her to Kampala hospital, she unfortunately passed away from a cardiac arrest during the process. Colleagues and acquaintances remember Magistrate Aanyu for her dedication, hard work, and strong work ethic.
