Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) Forms Inaugural Leadership Team with Support from Prime Minister

Notably, Moses Ssali, also known as Bebe Cool, was appointed the finance minister of the new artists federation.

The Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) has elected its first leadership team, consisting of various committee chairs and regional representatives.

KAMPALA, UGANDA | NOW THEN DIGITAL — The Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) has announced the election of its inaugural leadership team, marking a significant step towards the unification of the country’s music industry.

Led by President Eddy Kenzo, Vice Presidents Sheebah Karungi, Pallaso, and Juliana Kanyomozi, and supported by committee chairs and regional representatives, the UNMF will bring together all associations in the industry under one umbrella.

Sheebah is the Vice President Uganda National Musicians Federation

Eddy Kenzo, a prominent Ugandan singer and songwriter, was elected president of the UNMF. He will be joined by vice presidents Shebah Karungi, Pallaso, and Juliana Kanyomozi, as well as committee chairs and regional representatives.

Committees and regional representatives

The UNMF’s committees will focus on various aspects of the industry, including research and development, PR and communications, compliance and regulation, and special interest groups, among others.

Additionally, the regional representatives will be coordinated through the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA). Also, there are committees dedicated to gospel and kadongo kamu music genres, as well as regional representatives.

Government support

Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has pledged her support for the newly formed Federation, promising to fight for the rights of artists and invest resources in the UNMF.

She encouraged musicians to rely on her for support, emphasizing the government’s commitment to fostering the growth and success of the Ugandan music industry.

In response, President Eddy Kenzo emphasized the need for collaboration between the UNMF and the government to protect musicians and promote growth in the industry. “If we work together as the Uganda National Musicians Federation, we shall win,” he said. “We should partner with the government to protect us so that we protect it as well.”

Organizational structure

The UNMF’s organizational structure consists of a General Assembly of members, a Leadership team, Committees, Regional Representatives, a Secretariat, and a Board of Trustees featuring representatives from OWC, UNCC, and NCF.

Moving forward

The UNMF’s primary focus is to promote growth, collaboration, and unity among musicians and stakeholders in the Ugandan music industry.

With the support of the government and its leadership team, the Federation aims to create new opportunities for musicians and stakeholders, fight for the rights of artists, and provide a unified voice for the industry.
