Kampala, Uganda | NOW THEN DIGITAL — The highly anticipated 82nd Uganda Open Golf Championship is scheduled to return at the Uganda Golf Club on October 12, 2023. Johnnie Walker, an iconic whisky brand known for its bold flavors, has been unveiled as the title sponsor, showcasing a sponsorship deal of Shs 410 million, underlining their commitment to elevate golf at this year’s tournament.

During the press briefing, Johnnie Walker Brand Manager, Christine Kyokunda, shared exciting plans for the event. Johnnie Walker aims to immerse guests, golfers, and enthusiasts in flavorful experiences at the Hospitality villages. The vibrant space will offer a dedicated lounge for players to unwind, providing an immersive golf and whisky experience. Attendees can also look forward to exciting 19th hole experiences with the distinct Johnnie Walker touch.

James Ochen, Head of Sales Operations at Uganda Breweries, echoed the excitement for the Uganda Golf Open, now supported by the iconic brand, Johnnie Walker. Uganda Breweries has a history of supporting the game and is thrilled to present exceptional plans for this year’s tournament.

The event, hosted at the scenic Kitante par-70 golf course, will encompass a diverse range of competitions starting with the Ladies Open, Seniors Open, Amateur Open, Pro-Am, and culminating with the highly anticipated Professional Open, concluding the golf extravaganza.

Emmanuel Wamala, the Captain of Uganda Golf Club, expressed their readiness to host the tournament, offering a pristine course and three practice rounds for participants. He conveyed gratitude to the title sponsor, Johnnie Walker, and extended appreciation to other partners.

Moses Matsiko, the President of Uganda Golf Union, highlighted the opportunity for golfers of all categories to showcase their skills at a championship level during the Johnnie Walker Uganda Open. He anticipated a comprehensive and exciting tournament and thanked sponsors, media partners, and service providers.

The event received sponsorship from various partners, including NBS Sport as official media partners, Pinnacle Security responsible for tournament security, Aquafina as the official soft beverage sponsor, and Absa Bank contributing Shs 200 million and sponsoring the Pro-Am tournament.

For those interested, registration for the premier golfing event is open through the Uganda Golf Union web portal at www.golf-uganda.com. Here’s a summary of the 2023 Johnnie Walker Uganda Open Schedule:

– Ladies Open: October 12th to 14th
– Seniors Open: October 13th to 14th
– Amateur Open: October 18th to 21st
– Pro-Am: October 24th
– Professional Open: October 24th to 28th
