KAMPALA, UGANDA | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Burna Boy, Wizkid, Tems, CKay and Fireboy DML are among the West African Afrobeat stars nominated for the Soul Train Awards, taking place at the Apollo Theater in Nevada, USA, on 13 November 2022.

- African music star Burna Boy leads the continent’s contingent at the 2022 Soul Train Music Awards with four nominations, including Best R&B/Soul Male Artist, Song of the Year, Ashford & Simpson Songwriter’s Award, and Video of the Year.
- The Soul Train Music Awards also nominated Tems for Best New Artist, Best R&B/Soul Female Artist, and Best Collaboration in 2022. In addition, Wizkid got nods in Best Dance Performance and Best Collaboration for his work on Chris Brown’s ‘Call Me Every Day’.
- Fireboy DML and CKay will compete for the Best New Act award at the 2022 Soul Train Awards, while Beyoncé and Mary J. Blige received seven nominations each.
Presented by US TV network BET, the Soul Train Music Awards aim to recognize the best in African-American culture, including soul music, contemporary R&B, gospel, jazz and hip hop.
With four nominations, Burna Boy leads Africa’s contingent at the 2022 Soul Train Music Awards. He was nominated for Best R&B/Soul Male Artist, Song of the Year, Ashford And Simpson Songwriter’s Award, and Video of the Year.
Tems was also shortlisted as a nominee for Best New Artist, Best R&B/Soul Female Artist, and Best Collaboration at the Soul Train Music Awards in 2022, while Wizkid was nominated for Best Dance Performance and Best Collaboration for his collaboration with the US singer Chris Brown.
Fireboy DML and CKay will compete in the Best New Act category, while Beyoncé and Mary J. Blige lead with seven nominations each at the Soul Train Awards in 2022.
