Chief Justice Appoints Ereemye Jumire James Mawanda as New Public Relations Officer for the Judiciary

In his capacity as the PRO, Ereemye will oversee the Registry of Communications and Public Relations, where he will manage a team of professional Communications Officers.

Chief Justice Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny-Dollo has appointed His Worship Ereemye Jumire James Mawanda as the new Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Judiciary.

KAMPALA, UGANDA | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Chief Justice Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny-Dollo of Uganda has appointed His Worship Ereemye Jumire James Mawanda as the new Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Judiciary.

Ereemye, previously the Ag. Registrar Magistrates Affairs and Data Management, will also continue his duties as a Registrar.

The appointment is made under the authority of Article 133 of the Constitution and Section 3(a) of the Administration of the Judiciary Act.

“In exercise of the powers conferred upon the Chief Justice under Article 133 of the Constitution and by Section 3(a) of the Administration of the Judiciary Act, I hereby assign you as Public Relations Officer of the Judiciary, in addition to your duties as a Registrar,” the Judiciary said in a statement on Twitter.

Uganda’s Chief Justice Appoints New Public Relations Officer for Judiciary

Ereemye takes over from Justice Jameson Karemani Karemera, who recently became a Judge of the High Court after serving as Deputy Registrar and PRO since 2019.

In his new role, Ereemye will oversee the Registry of Communications and Public Relations, managing a team of Communications Officers, and act as spokesperson for the Judiciary.

The Chief Registrar, HW Sarah Langa Siu, expressed support for Ereemye’s appointment, emphasizing his significance in enhancing public awareness and the Judiciary’s image in alignment with the Judiciary Strategic Plan V.

Ereemye, with 27 years of experience, has risen through the judicial ranks, holding positions such as Magistrate Grade III Trainee, Magistrate Grade II, Magistrate Grade I, Chief Magistrate, Deputy Registrar, and Acting Registrar.

He is a member of the Judiciary Council representing the Lower Bench, a body that advises the Chief Justice as per the Administration of the Judiciary Act, 2020.

Ereemye is also associated with the Law Council and its Disciplinary Committee, and he holds a position on the Executive Committee of the Uganda Judicial Officers Association as a representative of Registrars.
