Joshua Baraka, the artist behind the hit song “Nana,” has been nominated for the Trace Awards and Summit 2025. He’s up for Best Artist—Eastern Africa, a recognition of his rapid rise in the music scene.

Known for blending Afrobeat, Ugandan Kidandali, R&B, and soulful lyrics, Joshua has quickly gained fans across Africa. His songs, including “Dalilah” and “DIGII IV,” have earned him a strong following, and now he’s competing with some of East Africa’s biggest stars like Diamond Platnumz, Harmonize, and Zuchu.

Joshua’s journey from playing piano in local bands to becoming one of the hottest names in East Africa is impressive. This nomination marks another big milestone in his career.

The timing of this nomination is perfect. It aligns with Johnnie Walker’s “Keep Walking” philosophy, the platinum sponsor of the Trace Awards. Johnnie Walker is supporting the Best Newcomer and Song of the Year categories, making the event even more exciting.

The Trace Awards and Summit 2025 will take place from February 24-26 at the Mora Zanzibar Resort. Fans can enjoy live performances, meet-and-greets, and a chance to connect with their favorite artists. The Trace Awards City Tour will also bring the energy to major cities like Kampala.
