Kampala, Uganda | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Next Media and Talent Africa Group have jointly announced the return of the iconic British band UB40 to Kampala, Uganda, for a concert scheduled on December 21, 2023. The concert, set to take place at the Kololo Independence Grounds, has generated excitement among music enthusiasts and fans of the ’80s sensation, who eagerly anticipate a memorable night of entertainment.

Operated under the NBS TV flagship brand, and in collaboration with Talent Africa Group, Next Media has pledged to provide an unforgettable experience. It’s worth noting that this concert coincides with the NBS At 15 celebrations.

UB40’s last performance in Kampala took place on February 23, 2008, at the Lugogo Cricket Oval, marking a pinnacle in their 30-year music career at the time.

The announcement of their return has triggered diverse opinions among netizens and music enthusiasts, with discussions focused on the timing and expectations for the band’s performance.

UB40, led by the soulful and distinctive voice of Ali Campbell, includes founding members Robin Campbell, Earl Falconer, and Brian Travers. Alongside talented musicians such as James Brown, Norman Hassan, and Tony Mullings, they create a mesmerizing fusion of reggae, pop, and rock that has captivated audiences for decades.

UB40’s unique sound and socially conscious lyrics have earned them global recognition and acclaim, leaving an indelible mark on the world of music. A final performance by this iconic group promises to be a musical extravaganza that will be etched in the annals of Ugandan music history.

Joe Kigozi, the Deputy Group CEO of Next Media, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming celebration, stating that it will be a remarkable showcase of Uganda’s celebratory spirit, emphasizing the nation’s diverse cultural richness and unity.

Aly Allibhai, the CEO of Talent Africa Group, emphasized the significance of their involvement in this monumental project, describing it as a “monumental partnership” and the biggest event of the year.
