Sister Osinachi Nwachukwu, a popular Nigerian gospel artist, has died after suffering an undisclosed illness for some months.
KAMPALA | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Nigerian gospel musician, Osinachi Nwachukwu (42 years old), has died and her cause of death is not known. She has reportedly been battling an undisclosed illness for some months.
- No official confirmation has been made from family members and close associates, but the mother of four is said to have died in a hospital in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, on Friday evening, April 8, 2022.
- Her hit song ‘Ekwueme’ by Prospa Ochimana, released in 2017, has made her widely known. Osinachi sang mostly in Igbo.
- In addition, Sister Osinachi has appeared in gospel hit songs such as ‘Nara Ekele’ by Pastor Paul Enenche and ‘You no dey use me play’ by Emma.
- In September last year, she released ‘Ikem, God of Power’.
- In other news: musicians Martins Okechukwu Justice aka “J Martins” and Olubankole Wellington aka “Banky W” have announced plans to run for political office during next year’s Nigerian elections.
The death of Osinachi Nwachukwu has not been officially confirmed as yet by family members and associates, but she died at a hospital in Abuja on Friday evening, April 8, 2022.
Osinachi sang in Igbo and was arguably best known for her song ‘Ekwueme’ by Prospa Ochimana, which was released in 2017.
Sister Osinachi has also appeared in gospel hit songs such as “Nara Ekele” by Pastor Paul Enenche and “You no dey use me play” by Emma. Her last release came in September of last year when she released “Ikem, God of Power”.
‘Ekwueme’ singer left behind four children and her husband Peter, who is said to be a clergyman. She was also the twin sister of Amarachi Grace Eze, another popular gospel artist.
The online community, in particular Twitter, has reacted to the death of Sister Osinachi Nwachukwu, some of whom expressed shock that she recently died in her prime.
Many others also expressed their sorrow for losing her melodious voice and beautiful songs, which they were now accustomed to, and prayed for her soul’s repose.
